Travel Trailer Axles Have Shifted on Leaf Springs

Topic: Rear beam is three/4 inch further left than front end
Posted By: Rocksride on 11/24/xvi 05:54pm First trip with my 2016 Jayco FBTS the left rear tire rubbed on inside bottom of left slide. CW looked at and said normal movement. BS . The entire axle is over to the left but leaf springs and brackets are straight. Tires wear fine, it appears that if you lot jacked trailer and loosened all u bolts u could movement axle to the right about 3/8 inch. There is some space between the axle mountain plates and u bolts. I just picked it upwards and moved to my site, equally shortly as I can I am gonna mensurate the welded mounts on axle to compare with the front axle to ensure they r the same. Whatsoever help with this issue

Does the other side look like information technology might exist the same distance out the other mode.

I would non merely measure between spring mounting plates, but also measure from spring mounting plate to brake plate at cease of axle to see if they are all the aforementioned. Could be you accept a bad axle from factory.

Posted Past: Rocksride on 11/25/16 07:06am Ya the right rear tire is also over to the left, similar the axle is get-go 1/2 inch left. How tight does the axle plate pin fit in alignment hole? I was hoping I could simply losses all u bolts and shift axle to right as far as the bolts would allow. Will be at this site till summer so I have time to correct. Dirt/ grass spot so non platonic place to work. I am going to call Jayco and request a mobile mech visit.

Posted By: JIMNLIN on 11/25/sixteen 07:37am My current '97 11200 lb fifth wheel trailer rear 5.2k axle is 5/viii" closer to the front beam on RH curb side.
With just over 100k miles on the trailer the two sets of tires have no odd wear patterns. Now after 5k-7k miles and the trailer tires have odd wear patterns take information technology to a large rig trailer shop and have them check it all out.
the dealer may mount a new axle on the trailer and you may have the aforementioned problem.

Posted By: goducks10 on 11/25/16 09:36am Normally there'south a apartment bound perch welded to the axle that the springs prepare on. It has a hole in it. The springs have s short pin that sets in that pigsty. That keeps the beam from moving around while U bolted to the springs. Only mode for the axle to exist shifted is if those spring perches are welded wrong.

Not saying that'southward the issue. But it would be 1 thing I'd look at.

Posted Past: the conduct II on eleven/25/16 eleven:47am That happened with our 5th wheel after the factory flipped the axles. They forgot to weld a cantankerous caryatid between the spring shackles. I curb strike knocked the axles out of alignment. They realigned the axles and installed the cross braces and nosotros've never had a problem since.

The pins only accept i/viii inch clearance on my spring setup and so I would be able to go about 1/4 inch aligning past loosening the u bolts and moving the axle. I did have a pivot break off on my 4X4 truck once.

Posted By: garyp4951 on 11/25/xvi 06:29pm Be sure and bank check the centre to center dimensions on all hangers first, and so the spring perches. If these are ok so measure from the pinbox king pivot to the front of each forepart hanger.
Since this unit is still under warranty, I hold you should have Jayco send someone out to outset the procedure, and meet if the axles are defective.
Posted By: Rocksride on 11/26/16 08:02am Y'all gotta love what CW told me after three months. They jacked trailer, inspected all skilful. Axle has play to movement considering information technology is Morride suspension organisation. Hello up and down not sideways!!!! I would love to clamber effectually in my dirt pad and jack, measure and see what is going on. But equally merely said Jayco can send someone to figure it out and document for repairs downward the road.
